This animal, known in Europe in 1770, has larger and more powerful back legs and a long and muscled tail which allow it to jump up to 9 metres distance and 3 metres in height. In flight it can reach 48km/h. It lives in the Australian savannahs and is well adapted to dry climates. Its young, which when born weigh 105g and are barely developed, climb into the marsupial pouch from where they develop throughout a span of 200 days, at which point they leave the pouch.
